Ahh...Showcase 37...The very first appearance of Dr. Will Magnus and his Metal Men. The Pre-Grail Grail of Metal Men. This is a beautiful comic with deep colors and white pages. It graded 8.5 because of a printer crease in the lower right and minor chipping along the top. I have seen many SC 37's with creases. I saw a auction 9.0 with more creases and color fading, so my copy should be a 9.0...then again, I am no grader!! Seems the SC37s paper quality was poor as many are in bad shape and disintegrating. I have raw poor copy and a good 6.0 reading copy. I owned a CGC 6.5 and a 8.0, which I sold to help acquire the 8.5. I don't have SC37-40 in a bound volume set, but looking for them.
This is the appearance of the "Flaming Doom", although it's not actually named, which is a a giant prehistoric Manta Ray...certainly no Godzilla!! Manta attacks the Chrysler Building in NYC, and has heat vision.
