The new Batman has unfinished business with both Gunhawk and Abattoir, but decides Gunhawk can wait. Robin is also looking for Abattoir - or rather, trying to ascertain where he is holding Graham Etchison. Batman catches up with Abattoir and pursues him into a foundry, with Robin not far behind. To Robin's utter shock, Batman allows Abattoir to die, falling into a vat of molten metal; he cannot quite believe that Batman has gone that far over the line. Batman himself fears that he is going mad, and elsewhere, Graham Etchison is finally crushed to death by the weights on his chest, Abattoir claiming his final victim.
