Abraham Sewart was a brass and bell founder in Lancaster. The bridge was designed by Thomas Harrison and was 549 feet long and at the time of its construction was one of the finest of its size in Europe. Thomas Harrison also made a number of alterations and additions to the castle. The castle was founded in the 1090’s on the site of a Roman fort. It is the oldest standing structure in Lancaster.
