Several medal manufacturers struck souvenir medals in the Mechanics Art Building. Two different versions, SH 7-9 and 7-10, commemorated that fact. Some are known date-stamped on the reverse for opening day JAN 27 1894. The obverse die is signed OA for Oscar Altstein, an engraver that worked for S.D. Childs of Chicago.
