This National Commemorative Medal was struck by public law 93-114 to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the cable car in San Francisco. Medals were struck at the San Francisco Assay Office in 1974 when it did not have full U.S. Mint status and contains the āSā mint mark. They were sold by the San Francisco Cable Car Centennial Committee. Public law 93-617 extended the deadline for striking the medals to December 31, 1975. Three inch medals were produced in Philadelphia with a āPā mint mark.
