The “Judaea Capta” issue commemorates Vespasian’s war in the Levant, suppressing the Great Jewish Revolt. Although his son Titus would be the Roman commander to ultimately sack Jerusalem (since Vespasian departed the campaign early to became emperor), Vespasian would claim this joint victory in his coinage.
