Admiral Lord Earl Howe is best known for the naval battle that occurred on the First of June, 1794 between the British fleet he commanded and the French Republic fleet under Rear Admiral Villaret-Joyeuse. This was the first and largest naval battle between Great Britain and the First French Republic during the French Revolutionary Wars and is probably the most referenced single event in the token series.
One of a series of specious naval farthing tokens issued by Paul Skidmore for sale to collectors.
