David Wright (1743-1811) and Stephen Palmer (1749-1828) were both mercers in Wainfleet All Saints. The building originally served as a Free Grammar School and was founded by William Patten, otherwise known as William of Wainfleet and afterwards as Bishop of Winchester, Lord High Chancellor during the reign of Henry VI. It later served as a Church and is currently a library.
