The US mint while under the chief engraver, William Barber, was tasked with creating a coin to compete with other nations’ coins of commerce. This charge lead to the creation of the Trade Dollar. This once hopeful, outstretched Lady Liberty pointed towards a promising horizon, but death and decay have left her rotting corpse as a symbol of the harsh reality which has overtaken the world. A blood spattered biohazard symbol on the reverse confirms the fears of very few survivors.
