Medal, Plaquette, 1912, Bronze, Belgium. HECTOR DENIS, Law / Geography / Professor. Medal by Isidore de Rudder (1855-1943). Size: 43mm x 53mm. Hector Denis, born in Braine-le-Comte , the 29th April 1842 and died on 10 May 1913 in Brussels was a politician Belgian Francophone Socialist. Obv: Portrait Bust van links naar Hector Denis, looking left. Op plint: HECTOR DENIS Rechts langs zijn rug: DE RUDDER; Rv: Bovenaan: FREE UNIVERSITY / PROFESSOR TO HIS / 1878-1912, daaronder Bust van een vrouw jonge naar links, ze haar Wijst puts vinger naar een stralende zon links. Op plint: AD LUCEM Rechts vonden pling of I. DR (Initials of Medallist). Hector Denis received a Doctor of Laws ( ULB , 1865) and Doctor of Science (1868). He was a professor of geography and junior lecturer in political economy. Special Associate (1878), he was responsible for the economics course at the Faculty of Sciences. He became extraordinary professor (1879) and ordinary (1888) and finally, President of the University (1892-1894). He was elected member of Liege from 1894 to 1913. He was director of the Institute of Sociology (Solvay) from 1897 to 1902. Member of the Academy (corresponding in 1892, incumbent in 1895), he finished Honorary Professor of the University of Brussels in 1912. Purchased in Chicago, IL.
