Medal, Plaquette, Bronze, 1911, Great Britain (House of Windsor), GEORGE V, with MARY. 1910-1936. Size: 52x74mm, Weight: 107.60 Grams. CORONATION. Issued by the Hotel Victoria, London. By T. Szirmaï. Dated 22 June 1911. Jugate busts of George, mantled, and Mary, crowned, left, set atop flowers with two banners inscrived GEORGE · V and MARY; half cross pattée in upper corners; Rv. Female figure standing facing, crowning 22 JUNE 1911 to upper left; to left, a second female figure, laureate, seated right on griffin throne and writing on tablet; Westminster Abbey in background; HOTEL VICTORIA/ LONDON in exergue. BHM –; Eimer –; Künker 145, lot 7626. In original case of issue. Purchased from CNG. Medallist: Tony (Toni) Szirmai was Hungarian, born in Budapest in 1871, Died 1938. He was a Hungarian sculptor, engraver and medal designer, and was active in Paris, his work is to be found in many collections of museums in Paris and also in the Royal Swedish Museum.
