Purpose of Medal was to bring to Alaska each year the privilege of hearing and performing great music, largely through the efforts of Mary Hale. Description: Obv. State Seal within center circle; outside, around The Seal of the State of Alaska; two small animals at l. edge; small fish at r. edge; Rv. In center, behind and above mountains, are hands of orchestra conductor holding baton; above, around Alaska Festival of Music; below mountains 1960 (This is Festival Seal). Medal designed by Paul Hoblit, and struck by Herff Jones, Inc., Indianapolis and maker of the Congressional Medal of Honor. This is a very high mint state specimen, purchased from Terry Carver, 2013.
