Medal, 1892, Bronze, COLUMBUS COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL, United States, Chicgo, (Germany), Obverse of Eglit-91, NGC MS64BN PL, Cert# 2548304-007. 1892 Germany, Columbus Commemorative Medal by Oertel & Co. This German medal was produced by Oertel & Co. and engraved by I. Christensen and Deitenbeck for the National Maritime Museum. It commemorates Columbus and uses the Eglit-91 obverse die. This is a wonderful example of this medal. It is conservatively graded. Obv. High Relief Portrait of Columbus, Legend, CHRISTOPH COLUMBUS, Anchor, Rope and Crossed Branches, Oertel Berlin; Rv. Ivy Wreath around, Inscription Commemorating Columbus inside Wreath.
