Full female figure on beach, amusement park in background; below Ocean Park / microscopic L.A.R.S. Co. 4; around Souvenir from California's Playground; beaded border.Medal struck for dedication of Construction of a "Breakwater"; issuer and designer unknown but struck by Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Co. (later LA. Stamp and Stationery Co., which went out of business in the 1960s). Actually, two dedicatory ceremonies held, marking both beginning and completion of project, March 25, 1933, and Aug. 5, 1934, respectively. Size: 38.1 mm. Struck in several different metals. The composition of HK-681 is copper and it is listed in Hibler-Kappen (1963) as "rare." NGC graded this piece MS62 Brown, although ample mint-red coloration is visible in most of the protected areas. Attractive and somewhat elusive in mint state.
