Medal, 1893, AE, COLUMBIAN EXPO TREASURY BUILDING, United States, Chicago, So-Called Dollar, HK-154 Gilt, NGC MS614 Cert# 4010177-005. Obv. Edifice; on ribbon above, around U.S. Govt. Building; below edifice, on ribbon, Width 351 ft / [to. l.] Length 421 ft, [to r.] Area 3.3 Acres. Rv. Across, World's / Columbian / Exposition / Chicago / 1893; above, around Treasury Department; below all, around United States Mint Exhibit. Size: 37mm. HK-154 is Brass according to HK, and there are two die varieties, small letters (HK-155), and large letters (HK-154). The medal also has been seen in Aluminum, desigated as Type 1, HK-154A, and also Type 2, in Copper, Proof (HK-155A). These medals were struck in the Mint Exhibit on the Fair Grounds. This example is brown AE, not the yellow examples which are typical, and may have been a trial piece.
