Owner Comments:

Similar to the adopted design for the three cent nickel except that the surface of the Roman numeral is smooth and the date larger. Distinguished from the other three cent nickel pattern of this year by the presence of short reverse dentils and a longer left ribbon tip. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Short and long denticle versions were struck of this pattern and it appears the short denticles variant is the more commonly encountered of the two.
