Owner Comments:
This was the third coin added to the set in early-July 2008. It was being offered in one of Heritage's eBay auctions for a decent selling point. Choya and I liked the look of it and it was in the grade and price range we had been wanting, so we purchased it. Since we live in in Texas, we decided to pick up a couple of other coins to get the order over $1000 and avoid needing to pay sales tax on the purchase. This resulted in the purchase of our first Texas commemorative which later grew into a complete set.
This coin has some toning along most of the rim of the obverse and about half of the reverse, though it's strongest at the top of the obverse and the bottom of the reverse. The picture shows the details of the coin well but makes this toning look much stronger and much darker than it is on the coin. Where the image would suggest dark brown toning, the coin has some subtle hints of blue with most of the rest of the tone ranging from a golden tone to a golden-brown. This coin has an NGC population of 524 with 695 in higher grades.
