Comments: Recent research indicates that all 1825 quarters technically fall under the 1825/4/2 overdate varieties, challenging previous variety classifications. The coin discussed here is not in the best condition, with visible damage, scratches, bent planchet, and multiple rim dings. It's a circulated piece, with much of its high-relief details worn away. Despite its damage, which precludes a straight grade, this coin remains an early and relatively uncommon issue. Estimates suggest that fewer than 1,000 of these coins still exist. As a result, uncirculated examples command high prices, making any piece from this issue worth retaining.
