The $5 1988 Gold coin program, celebrating the XXIV Olympiad Games, was specifically created to help raise funds for the US Olympic committee to fund both Olympic and amateur training programs. The program had raised over $22 Million from the sale of both the gold and silver coins created for this program. This is the Proof Version of the $5 Gold coin minted at the West Point Mint.
