Elusive Prooflike Example. 1889-CC $1 AU58 Prooflike NGC. The 1889-CC is not only scarce in any grade from a small Carson City mintage of only 350,000 pieces, it is notably scarce with designated Prooflike field reflectivity. This nearly Mint State example displays brilliant silver surfaces and a sharp strike, with bold detail above Liberty's ear and lightly frosted motifs. Marks and abrasions are few. Liberty's cheek is smooth and the mirrorlike fields show only a small cluster of marks near star 6 and some widely separated fine hairlines. The reverse is similarly unabraded, with a few minor marks seen above TRUST. (Registry values: P9, N2998). Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2559, PCGS# 7191)
