MILLIONS WERE MINTED…ONLY 4 GRADED HIGHER!

The U.S. Mint sold 3,075,645 Proof Sets in 1963. But only 112 Washington Quarters from that year have been graded Proof 69 star by NGC. Finding 1963 Proof Quarters without blemishes can be a challenge, most of them were scratched, toned, milk-spotted, hazy or damaged in some way. This is one of the finest examples of a Brilliant Proof Quarter from 1963 you’ll see.

NGC reserves the 'Star' designation for coins with superior eye appeal for their grade. PCGS doesn't use a * designation in their grading system. NGC has graded no specimens higher, but PCGS has graded 4 Washington Quarters from 1963 in Proof 70 condition.
