This 25 centavo coin was minted by the Philadelphia mint for circulation in the Republic of the Philippines. The obverse of this coin is reminiscent of the obverse design from the previous US/Philippine 20 Centavo series issued from 1903 through 1945. The reverse shows the shield for the Republic of the Philippines and that it was issued by the authority of the Central Bank of the Philippines. It is interesting to note that of the four Philippine coins dated 1960, this is the only one that was minted entirely in 1960. The mintage of the other three were divide over 1960 and 1961 although all were dated 1960.
This is a very common date, and relatively easy to find in uncirculated condition. This particular coin however, is one of only 5 to have been graded above MS60 by either NGC or PCGS,. As of this revision, there have been four graded at MS65 with none finer.
