This bronze one centavo coin was minted by the Philadelphia mint for circulation in the Republic of the Philippines. The obverse of this coins is reminiscent of the obverse design from the previous US/Philippine Centavo series issued from 1903 through 1944. The reverse shows the shield for the Republic of the Philippines and that it was issued by the authority of the Central Bank of the Philippines. It is interesting to note that it was struck in quantities of 20 million in each of the years 1960 and 1961 for a total mintage of 40 million, all dated 1960.

This particular coin is a full "red" coin with very few minor nicks in the devices on either side of the coin. Both the obverse and reverse are well struck. It is unclear why this coin did not receive a higher grade.
