A total of 75,890,000 pieces were minted in Philadelphia. This figure includes all three reverse die types. One wayward Proof Reverse Die (Type 2 High-Relief) was intentionally or mistakenly used to produce a limited amount of 1972 Business Strike Ike Dollars. It is estimated that approx 100,000 pieces were struck, using this die.
