Owner Comments:
The 1989 dollar commemorates the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Congress. The obverse of the coin features an image of The Statue of Freedom, which stands atop the dome of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. The reverse of the coin features an image of the Mace of the House of Representatives (a ceremonial mace used by the Office of the Sergeant of Arms). There were 135,203 coins produced by the Denver Mint and 762,198 proof coins minted by the San Francisco Mint. Despite the high mintages, these dollars are very difficult to find in a perfect MS70 and PF70 condition.
