Owner Comments:

I purchased this attractive specimen of the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle reverse silver dollar uncertified at a Bowers & Merena auction in June 1996 ("Herbert D. Spencer Collection", lot 1021) for about a quarter of its 2022 retail list price. I submitted it to NGC in April 2022. It is an example of the BB 161, B-11 die variety, which paired a relatively new obverse die with a more worn, cracked reverse die on which die polishing had virtually removed the berries from the olive branch. I took the photographs before the coin was certified.
