In 1962 the U.S. Mint sold 3,218,019 Proof Sets -- but only 54 of the Lincoln Cents from that year have been graded Proof 69* RD by NGC. No 1962 Proof Cents have been graded higher than this coin. High-grade 1962 Proof Cents are still affordable. Even entry-level collectors can own fine specimens.

NGC reserves the * designation for coins that have outstanding eye appeal for their grade. PCGS does not use a * designation in their grading.
