Owner Comments:
I really love the simple and uncluttered design of this "no stars" obverse. I find it so much more eye appealing than the following years when the mint added the obverse stars. This design was only used in 1837 and 1838, in 1939 the mint added the stars around the obverse rim.
This coin was struck in the New Orleans mint inaugural year of operations, the NOLA mint struck only 406 thousand examples of this coin in that first year.
I fell in love with this particular coin as I love how well struck it is and the color is very attractive to my eye. I was lucky to be able to purchase this coin from another collector on the PCGS forum.
