This is the Breen 7178 variety with the medium "S" (1.3 mm) mintmark and the unbroken crossbar in "A" of "STATES". The other variety of this date with a broken crossbar is somewhat scarce. The San Francisco mint produced 879,675 double eagles during it's second year of operation.
