Owner Comments:
The Kennedy Half Dollar has remained an American favorite since it replaced the Franklin half in 1964. The design has not changed in over 50 years. The composition has changed twice: in 1965 it changed from silver to silver-clad, and in 1971 to clad.
In 2014, the 50th Anniversary of the Kennedy half dollar, special "high-relief" clad specimen strikes were made in both Philadelphia and Denver.
In 2017, the 225th anniversary of the mint, the San Francisco Mint produced a unique "Enhanced Mint Set" which included a clad Kennedy half-dollar with a special finish.
In 2019, another special clad Kennedy half dollar was made honoring his contribution to the space program on the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. It was an enhanced reverse proof.
This coin is part of a 2003-S proof set in a 5-coin holder (cent, nickel, dime, half, and dollar).
