Owner Comments:

Name: Color Shift

Mintage: 3.06 Million
Full Step Availability: 5%
Date/mm Information: Most mint state examples of the 1952-D are rather decent in appearance. The details can be weak on both sides at the center, from incorrect but practical die spacing.

Coin Description: The obverse of this coin displays absolutely mesmerizing rainbow toning, with such richness and vibrance, that even a casual glance is rewarded with joy. Stunning bands of lemon, cotton candy pink, cerulean, and lime green move outwards from the untoned center. The reverse toning is much less dramatic and steps aside to allow the five full steps to take center stage.

Comments: This coin originally resided in a PCGS MS65 FS holder and I crossed it to NGC in September of 2019, expecting an upgrade and star designation, but received neither. The coin was rotated severely in the slab and was one of the other reasons that I decided to cross it. Hilariously, the coin came back still rotated, though not nearly as extreme. It occurred to me that the visual presence of this coin is so intense, it causes the employee in charge of encapsulation to shift, a color shift.
