Owner Comments:

First year of the new Buffalo nickel. The reverse had Five Cents on a raised mound. This caused excessive wear and the issue was corrected with a design change in same year 1913.
The 1913 coins with a raised mound are considered Type I.

Est. mintage: 30.9M according to Whitman Guidebook of Buffalo and Jefferson nickels.
