JNDA 02-2. The first 100 yen coin, produced only two years in S32 and S33 (1957-1958). One side is the ho-ō bird (Japanese phoenix) with a sunburst/stylized cherry blossom design on the other. The 100 yen coin remained the largest circulating coin denomination until 1982 when the 500 yen coin was introduced.
Diameter 22.6 mm, 0.600 fine silver, weight 4.8 grams.
