San Francisco reached the pinnacle of its half dollar production in 1877, and it would be another 40 years before this record was broken. The 1877-S, mintage of 5,356,000, half dollar is common across all grades through the lower range of Mint State. Gems are sufficiently available to the satisfy the demand from both date and type collectors. This example is well struck with light grey toning.
