The striking of all U.S. Philippine coins began in March of 1903 in Philadelphia, but the San Francisco mint struck only Pesos until well into the year. Consequently, the striking of subsidiary silver coinage (10 and 20 Centavos) was so delayed that relatively few of each were struck. The quantity of 20 centavos being significantly lower than for the 10 centavos which indicates that they were most likely struck in the last few days of 1903.

The ten and twenty centavo coins were also very popular with the Filipino people primarily because these denominations were very familiar. Their size and value were very similar to their Spanish predecessors and circulated well. Consequently, high grade examples of this issue are quite rare.

This coin is a nice lightly circulated specimen.
