Circulation strike mintage 53,190,000
Due to the high mintage numbers, finding an example with a good strike was not difficult although, as with all Walking Liberty Half Dollars of this era, striking quality varies tremendously.
On the obverse, design details are very good with 90% of head details and 80% of left hand detail present. The center skirt-lines are mostly complete as well. The luster is great on the obverse, and the fields and devices are mostly very clean and un-abraded with an occasional (and very superficial) contact mark only visible under 7x magnification.
On the reverse, the Eagle's breast feathers and left leg are also quite complete. The reverse rim appears slightly wider than that of the obverse (in my humble opinion), which is apparently common in this issue. The left field has a small hairline.
Numismatic Note: Some numismatists claim the existence of a 1943/2 overdate, but this claim is controversial. David W. Lange and Bill Fivaz consider these accounts of overdates as merely exhibiting die doubling.
