Circulation strike mintage 1,902,000

The few examples I managed to examine were mostly flat strikes. Truth be known, had I taken a closer look at this coin, I probably would have held out for a better example (but at the time, there were very few good examples to be found).

The entire design and surfaces on the obverse and reverse show heavy signs of wear, especially in key area of interest such as the high points of the design details such as Liberty's head, body, and left hand. The left aspect of Liberty's skirt is worn to the point of almost reaching the coin's surface. The original mint luster has been worn away.

On the obverse, the high parts of the design have lost their sharpness (becoming more rounded at Liberty's head at approximately 50% of design details and the left hand at 40%). Contact marks in the fields are numerous. The lettering on the coin is clearly visible including the word "LIBERTY". The date is visible but partially worn down as are Liberty's center body and gown stripes. The left leg and knee are flat.

The reverse has moderate worn areas at the high points of the design (i.e. Eagle's breast and left leg) both which has an overall flattened appearance. Some of the minor details are worn down to the point that they blend together and there is a small non-distracting scratch across the Eagle's left wing.

Numismatic News: As with the 1929-D, coins from this year and mintage were available at face value (plus postage) from the Treasury Department starting on April 23, 1932.
