Circulation strike mintage 1,940,000

The numismatic literature states that overall sharp strike in this year/mintmark is the exception, not the rule and, for the most part, striking varies from weak to fairly good.

The coin exhibited light wear with overall good sharpness to all key/major areas when viewed in hand and under high magnification (7x). As expected with this level of wear, the highest points of design detail soften. Lettering is bold.

On the obverse, wear spots are evident, although the head shows over 60% of details whereas the left hand shows about 50% of design detail. Wear is also present on the breast and arms. The left leg is rounded, but worn from the upper skirt to the ankle. Gown lines crossing the body is partially visible. Outline of the breast is visible. There is a detracting mark/gouge at the left field that intersects Liberty's skirt which is unfortunate since the obverse has good eye appeal otherwise.

On the reverse, I was pleased to see again that the Eagle's breast and legs are well-separated by defined plumage between them. Breast feathers and right wing tip feather outlines/ends are slightly visible although there are flat areas. Feathers on the left leg are mostly absent with the ones present being mostly flat.
