Circulation strike mintage : 10,282,000

This particular coin shown here has relatively good luster for the year/mintmark. In general, the luster and sharpness is not as common as the rich appealing luster and sharpness of coins from the Denver and Philadelphia mints of this year, although original mint luster can be appreciated in this specimen in the protected areas between letters. Mint state gems are quite elusive with most 1918-S halves being poorly struck.

Wear can be appreciated on Liberty's left hand (obverse) whereas, in hand, the Eagle's breast is not as worn on the reverse. There are some hairlines and contact marks on the coin's obverse field that are not distracting.

On the reverse, the Eagle's breast seen in hand is fairly sharp for the year/mintmark although the left leg feathers appear worn.
