Having seen MS-69s that I thought could possibly pass for an MS-70, I can appreciate this MS-70 coin even more as the graders must have seen it ! It's a gorgeous specimen on the obverse and reverse with sharp detail on all the prime focal spots. With this excellent sharp strike, lustrous and finely textured fields, as well as no spots, hairlines, hits, scuff marks or other defects, it is a gorgeous example of an American Silver Eagle in MS-70 condition.
Numismatic News: Although a later article in Coin World, published in 2015 states otherwise, in examining these coins, I agree with the view that these burnished coins lack the deep mirrored fields and cameo appearance of the devices of "unburnished" examples -- instead having a uniform satiny or matte finish. This coin has a more satiny appearance. In hand, typical of a Burnished coin in my opinion, the surface does not reflect light as well as regular bullion strikes do.
Numismatic News: The 2014-W Burnished American Silver Eagle became available for sale on April 10, 2014 at $43.95 and sold out in December. Over 72% of the coins submitted to NGC received the grade of MS-70
