Mintage 8,882,754
Minted at West Point without mintmark
Even though the details and fields appear somewhat "muted" (less blast white) in comparison to other MS-70 American Silver Eagles in my collection, the obverse and reverse are spotless with sharp details on all prime focal spots. With obvious original mint luster, as well as no hairlines, hits, scuff marks or other defects, it is another prime example of American Silver Eagle in MS-70 condition.
Numismatic News: 2004 began a 4 year average increase in price per ounce of $2/year. Mintages of bullion strike American Silver Eagles rose to record levels. By 2004, interest in the 50 state quarters program started to decrease.
The typical ASE submitted for professional grading was MS 69, a telling sign of the overall quality of coins struck this year by the West Point Mint.
2004 average silver price $6.66/ounce
