Mintage 621,333
Minted at West Point with "W" mintmark
Up until I put my hands on a Burnished coin, I had never seen one before and knew very little about it. With some research, I learned about the process to produce such a coin (described under the 2006 W Burnished coin) and besides the fact that it has a "W" mintmark, the burnished coins lack the deep mirrored fields and cameo appearance of the devices of "unburnished" examples -- instead having a uniform satiny or matte finish. This coin has more of a matte finish.
It has sharply detailed features on the obverse and reverse, an excellent sharp strike, with no spots, hairlines, hits, scuff marks or other defects. Another great example of American Silver Eagle in MS-70 condition.
Numismatic News: In 2007, the US Mint produced its second Burnished American Silver Eagle, also produced at the West Point Mint with the "W" mintmark. Despite an increase in price of $2 (to $21.95), collector interest pushed the mintage to more than 150,000 coins than that sold in 2006.
NGC and PCGS have graded tens of thousands of the 2007-W Burnished American Silver Eagle with most grading MS-69 but also a significant number of MS-70, making it affordable to most collectors.
