Owner Comments:

The second release of commemorative dollars in 2011 celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Medal of Honor, created as the highest medal Congress could confer to those who fought with extraordinary valor against an enemy force. The obverse features a depiction of the three versions of the medal that are offered (Army, Navy/Marines, and Air Force). The reverse of the coin shows an infantryman carrying a wounded soldier off the battlefield.

There were 44,769 uncirculated dollars produced by the San Francisco Mint, and 112,850 proof coins produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The MS70 coins are plentiful and easy to find at an affordable price. In fact, there are more NGC graded MS70 dollars than there are MS69 dollars. The PF70 graded dollars are a little tougher to find (twice as many are graded PF69).
