Owner Comments:
The 1988 gold $5 coin was issued to celebrate the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. There were 62,913 uncirculated and 281,465 proof coins minted by the West Point Mint. Elizabeth Jones designed the coin's obverse, which shows the face of Nike (the Greek goddess of Victory). The reverse, designed by Marcel Jovine, shows the iconic logo of the Olympics (five interlocked rings) above a stylized Olympic flame. Because of the relatively high mintages, perfectly graded MS70 and PF70 coins are fairly easy to find.
