Owner Comments:
Nicely frosted devices creating a very nice cameo and showing deep reflective mirrors in the field. The eye appeal is outstanding with strong striking of the devices in which produced such a gem DMPL Morgan. This 1884-P is a Vam 1 with normal dies both obverse and reverse. No doubling, dashes or dots on this one. Wayne Miller quotes, The 1884-P is rare in fully prooflike condition. Most specimens offered for sale are lustrous semi-prooflike pieces. Virtually all prooflikes are brilliant rather than cameo, and with little contrast between field and devices. Even so, such pieces command impressive prices when minimally bagmarked. The prooflike rarity is 9 out of 10 using the scale in Wayne's Textbook. The population with PCGS shows 22 in MS65 DMPL and only 6 in MS66 DMPL with none graded higher. I would put this one in the top 5% of the 22 graded MS65. Purchased from Don Rinkor DMPLDOLLAR.COM 2/05
