Owner Comments:
This virtually blemish free 1927 S MS65 Specimen exhibits a strike as full as it comes on a 27S, which is unusual for this date and mint where the strikes are usually weak and the coins are excessively baggy. Roger Burdette states that within the entire series the 27S in MS65 is one of the rarer issues. Most MS 65 examples exhibit strong die polish marks, where the fields on this coin are polish mark free. Only two coins exist in a higher grade, one coin at MS65+ and one at MS66. This specimen is at the high end of the MS65 Range. Since this set has all blast white examples, we submitted this one to NCS for conservation, and NCS did an outstanding job restoring the original absolutely blast white mint luster. This Coin was Pedigreed to the Pamela Henard Peace Dollar Collection in 2018.
Mark Salzberg, NGC Chairman and Grading Finalizer:
It’s incredibly tough to find one fully struck. This one has to be 95% fully struck, which is as good as you’re going to get. It’s very clean — great luster. It’s a fantastic example of a 65.
