NGC Cameo Populations:
The total mintage figure for 1962 is 3,218,019. As of 12/2018, NGC certified coin populations show that there are 7701 Cameo coins total in all grades making up 0.24% of the total mintage while there are 1410 Ultra Cameo coins making up 0.04%.

Cameo Availability:
1962 shared many of the same characteristics as 1961 (high mintage, milk spots, hairlines, high number melted), however more high grade cameos were produced and survived than 1960 or 1961. The cameo population numbers show a huge increase over the previous years. As a result, there seems to be a relatively ample supply of coins available and they are generally quite attractive coins. This year is the most readily available of the series. I regularly see attractive high grade cameos come up for sale.

This Coin:
This coin is pure white with no toning, has clean deep fields and strong cameo (obv: ucam-, rev: cameo). As one expert indicates, it is not uncommon for collectors to purchase the 1962 as their first cameo proof Franklin due to the availability of attractive coins of this date. I can say that it was true for me, it was the first one that I purchased. While many cameos have a strong matte finish on the cameo devices, this coin has outstanding luster on the cameo devices, especially on the reverse. Some collectors like one type better than the other, I find both types of cameo coins wonderful to behold.
