Owner Comments:
No commemorative half dollars were minted in 2002. In 2003, a commemorative half dollar was issued to honor the 100th anniversary of the Wright Flyer and the Orville and Wilbur Wright brothers. It was the 16th half dollar minted in the "Modern Commemorative" era. The obverse of the 2003-P half dollar features an image of the Wright Monument on top of Kill Devil Hill, which is near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The reverse features an image of the Wright Flyer being piloted by Orville Wright (1903).
There were 57,122 uncirculated coins produced. These half dollars are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel. The 2003-P half is fairly easy to find in perfect MS70 graded condition.
Ebay auction purchase from user david70s, 11/16/2017, $21.
