1994 NGC Certified Specimen Jefferson Nickel ~ Often Called A "Matte Proof" ~ Fully Brilliant ~ One Of The 100 Greatest U.S. Modern Coins!
These scarce coins were included in the Jefferson Coin & Currency set and were the first U.S. Coin issued with this special satin finish since 1916. NGC recognizes these coins as specimens though they are often referred to as matte proofs or satin finish proofs.
1994 Specimen Jefferson Nickels are struck with specially prepared dies which give the coin a somewhat grainy satin finish. The details of these coins are extremely sharp and will rival that of any proof coin. The inclusion of the 1994 Matte Jefferson in the recent publication of the "100 Greatest U.S. Modern Coins" will only add to the popularity of this must have coin!
