The 1878 was the first "Proof only" Trade Dollar issue made for collectors. Mintage was only 900 pieces. This gorgeously toned example abounds in a blend of colorful hues of purple, luscious gold and pastel blue. The glowing rose colored eagle silhouettes the mirrored deep purple field. Golden highlights dance across the backgrounds. An original high end beauty!
